Art Beat Thoughts

Karen Godfrey is the owner of the Art Beat Gallery on Diamond SE in Grand Rapids. After she visited our Retailing class I can see that she seems like a lively and active person. You can tell just by looking at her that she is an artist. I think working on this marketing project for Karen will be interesting. Some of the goals/questions that Karen is looking to answer from this project are:

1. How can she make customers feel important and special?
2. How can she implement this on a regular basis? She is willing to spend up to $80 a month to make this happen. She gave the example of when she went to Florida there was a machine similar to a gumball machine; however it dispensed shells and sand.
3. What other services and experiences can she offer to her customers?
4. What can she do to bring in new customers? Should she encourage her existing customers to bring in one new friend each month?
5. How can she reach the customer? She wants to express how art is healing, art brings hope, art gets them excited…
6. How can “awe” be created in the Art Beat Gallery? She wants people to notice right away when they walk in the door.
7. Finally, she wants to find a way to increase the foot traffic that comes into Art Beat Gallery. Currently she has about 25 people a day walk through.

It will be interesting to see what the students of our class decide on how to help Karen out. Hopefully we can have some useful insight for her!
